With the Summer Olympic Games in Paris just around the corner online visa platform Atlys has observed a remarkable 60 per cent increase in visa applications for France. This surge highlights the growing enthusiasm among Indian travelers to participate in this global sporting event.
While Tier 1 cities like Mumbai, Delhi, and Bangalore dominate the applicant pool, there is a significant rise in applications from smaller towns and rural areas. In response, French consulates in India have enhanced their processing capabilities, with most Olympic visitors now receiving their visa decisions in under a week, significantly faster than usual. This streamlined service allows travellers to focus more on their Olympic adventure rather than on bureaucratic hurdles.
Paris continues to be a prime destination, boasting nearly a 40 per cent increase in active travel listings on Atlys. Visitors are drawn to the city’s iconic landmarks and Olympic venues. However, the interest extends beyond Paris. Travelers are also exploring other vibrant locations hosting key Olympic events, such as Nice, Aubervilliers, Colombes, and Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine. Lesser-known areas like Châteauroux, for shooting events, and Colombes, for field hockey, are witnessing a rise in bookings, offering visitors a diverse and enriching French experience.
Group travel bookings have surged, with a 45 per cent increase in group visa applications. Families and friends are planning their Olympic trips together, reflecting the social and communal nature of attending such a significant global event.
Atlys has noted a 50 per cent increase in sports tourism-related queries. Travelers are not only keen to attend Olympic events but also eager to visit iconic French sports venues like Stade de France and Roland Garros. This trend underscores the growing appetite among Indian travelers to combine their passion for sports with travel.“The surge in applications reflects an exciting trend among Indian travelers, who are increasingly planning trips around iconic sporting events like the Olympics, showcasing their growing appetite for unique global experiences,” said Mohak Nahta, CEO, Atlys. “Interestingly, while Paris remains a top destination, these travelers are also venturing beyond traditional tourist spots to explore cities like Lyon, Saint-Denis, and Bordeaux to catch their favorite sports. We’re thrilled to make it easy for travelers to get their visas on time for the 2024 Olympic and summer travel experiences.”
