On Tuesday, April 2, pilots from WestJet Encore cast their votes in favor of a strike, as announced by the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA), the union representing them.
This development emerged during the first week of a 21-day cooling-off period. The pilots at WestJet Encore have expressed their solidarity in pursuit of a contract that ensures both stability for their careers and the airline itself.
Nonetheless, negotiations have nearly ground to a halt, especially when discussions moved towards the more critical aspects of the contract, such as salary and opportunities for career advancement within the WestJet Group.
