The U.S. Travel Association announced the addition of Aimee Misako Gabel to their team as the Senior Vice President of Events and Education. In this pivotal role, Gabel will be instrumental in enhancing the association’s premier events such as the U.S. Travel’s IPW, ESTO, Summer Summit, and Future of Travel Mobility, along with developing new initiatives that align with the organization’s strategic goals.
“Aimee brings an invigorating combination of event innovation and delivery excellence,” said Ellen Davis, U.S. Travel’s Executive Vice President, Business Strategy and Industry Engagement. “Her extensive tenure growing high-impact events ensures that she will play a crucial role in crafting valuable experiences for our members and the industry we serve.”
Prior to joining U.S. Travel, Gabel made significant contributions at RE+, North America’s largest and rapidly expanding renewable energy event, where she held the position of Chief Experience Officer. Under her guidance, RE+ ascended to a top 50 tradeshow status, celebrated for its novel approach to engaging participants by significantly broadening its programs, strategies, and partnerships, which quadrupled its event revenue. Gabel is widely recognized and frequently invited to speak on topics including industry best practices, diversity, and sustainability in events.
Gabel’s earlier career includes co-founding The Rose Company, a consultancy that specialized in executive client leadership and event strategy.
“As the trade association for one of America’s most important industries, I see nothing but opportunity to grow our events in ways that benefit the travel ecosystem,” said Gabel. “I am excited to join this talented team and work closely with our members as U.S. Travel continues to evolve alongside our thriving industry.”
She has an impressive educational background with a master’s degree in organization development from American University, a bachelor’s degree in history and Asian studies from Colorado College, and a certificate in strategy execution for public leadership from Harvard Kennedy School. Furthermore, Gabel has been an active member of advisory boards for prominent organizations like the Los Angeles Tourism and Convention Board, the City of Philadelphia, and the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas.
