What are you doing next Thursday?
Well, here’s hoping you’ll join me for a free virtual World Oceans Day shell-ebration!
I’ve been craving connecting with you guys! Grab your finest ocean inspired garb (I mean… I suppose you can also wear normal clothes…), mix up the ocean-inspired cocktail I’ll send ya the recipe for, and fire up the internet machine of your choice for an online, underwater themed shore-thing next Thursday, June 8th from 6-7:30PM! Here’s what’s included in brief, with more details below.
• A PADI Project Aware Speciality Training (up to a $250 value!)
• A digital download of an ocean-inspired cocktail or mocktail recipe to drink during the event, if you wish!
• A short ocean-inspired meditation
• A digital download of nature-based affirmations
• Spilling a big Wander Women sea-cret — where and when our next liveaboard will be (it’s once again open to divers and non-divers, by the way!) and access to pre-book 24 hours ahead of its launch.
• The chance to win a Wander Women Oceans virtual retreat, complete with recorded yoga classes taught by yours truly, as well as sea-inspired workshops with some incredible members of the Wander Women family (think undersea watercolor downloads, natural tie-dye workshops, and more!)
So, that’s what’s on the official schedule but… let’s just say a short round table on The Little Mermaid movie remake may or may not occur. Let’s party!
Who
Literally anyone! Invite your kiddos, your mamas, your besties, and join us for an evening celebrating sustainability and our seas. The only pre-requisite is a love of or interest in the ocean. You don’t need to be a diver!
Where
From anywhere! Here’s a helpful time zone converter if you want to figure out what time it will be wherever you are.
When
World Oceans Day, baby! Next Thursday, June 8th, from 6-7:30PM EST. This is a live event and will not be recorded.
What
Guys I don’t want to brag — okay, I love to brag — but I am a freshly certified PADI Project Aware Specialist Instructor! As a PADI Divemaster who doesn’t plan to continue onto PADI Instructor, I was beyond thrilled to learn that I was able to qualify to teach certain ‘fins off’ conservation courses that don’t have an in-water element.
Next week I’ll share more about this process for other PADI Divemasters interested in sharing their passion for sustainability, but if you’ve been reading here for a while you know I’m a forever student who geeks out totally on trainings — this was super fun for me!
The Project AWARE Specialist course is all about ocean conservation and learning how you can make a difference for ocean protection every time you dive or travel. A dry course, this specialty is ideal for divers and non-divers alike to gain insight into how decisions above and below the surface impact our water planet.
How Much?
So, it’s totally free to join this event, have all the fun, and audit the included course (again, a $250 value!) thanks to PADI being a longtime Alex in Wanderland sponsor and thanks to me loving to nerd out and take any opportunity to shell-ebrate! If you choose to have me register your training with PADI and receive your Project Aware Specialists certification e-card, the cost is $50 — though since Project AWARE’s mission aligns so deeply with our own at Wander Women, we’re gifting anyone who does certify a $50 Wander Women discount code. So basically, it’s a (salty) wash! Can I get a shell yeah?
Want us to make an additional $10 tax-deductible donation to Project AWARE on your behalf? You get a upgraded e-card with a stunning underwater image on it! (At this point I have so many PADI cert cards I need a separate wallet for them, ha!)
. . .
I know summer is in full swing in this hemisphere and the weather is gorgeous and I sure do wish I could be throwing y’all this World Oceans Day shell-ebration from a beach somewhere that I could teleport us all to for an evening! But, given the global reach of this incredible community, I’ll do my best to bring those blue vibes to a screen near you! And it is forever the sea-sun to care about our mother ocean, after all.
I’d be honored to have you be a part of this new first for me, as I step into the role of Project AWARE Instructor! (And let me know if you want more opportunities like this to gather virtually and in person in the comments!)
Any questions? Hit me in the comments!
